Creating a Safe Space for LGBT Clients

Yisraela Hayman, LMFT

An LGBTQ client schedules an appointment with you. You’re thinking, "What do I do? How do I attune? What’s different about them? What’s the same? What do I need to know? Will I understand them? How do I make them feel comfortable?"  For answers to all these questions - and more - come to this workshop!

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand similarities and differences between heterosexual and LGBT individuals /clients

2. Understand common LGBT terminology and labels

3. Some of the common issues faced in the lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and "queer" community.

4. How to feel comfortable with LGBT clients and ways to create a safe environment for LGBT clients to feel seen, heard, and understood.
