PRESENTER: MURIEL CASAMAYOR, M.A. DESCRIPTIVE NARRATIVE: The presentation discusses the definition and types of domestic violence; the impact of domestic violence on children; and the power and control wheel. The presentation will address how to assess for domestic violence during intake assessment, and how to create a treatment plan that fits survivors’ needs. The presentation will provide up-to-date information so that therapists will learn Definitions and Types of Domestic Violence; Evidence based support for teaching clients the Power and Control Wheel; The Impact of DV on children (ethical obligation of therapists for reporting “reasonable belief of harm or danger”); and Diagnostic and Statistical Diagnosis assessments typically related to domestic violence.
