President's Message

IE-CAMFT Newsletter — Spring Updates

Hello IE-CAMFT Members,

I hope you are all doing well. There are so many exciting things happening in our chapter, and we’re grateful to be in community with each of you. Let’s jump into some of the latest updates!

Board Elections Are Here

We had an incredible group of candidates step forward for this year’s IE-CAMFT Board elections—thank you to everyone who expressed interest in leadership and service.

Stay tuned for our upcoming election ballot email—your vote truly matters. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of our chapter and the direction of our work in the Inland Empire.

Advocacy in Action — Sacramento Recap

We are proud to share that our very own Susan Lowe, LMFT represented IE-CAMFT at Advocacy Day in Sacramento on March 12.

Susan joined over 75 members from California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to meet with legislators and advocate for key issues impacting our profession.

A major focus was SB 903, a bill addressing the role of Artificial Intelligence in mental health care (co-sponsored by CAMFT, National Association of Social Workers, and American Psychological Association).
 This legislation aims to:

  • Ensure that AI tools and chatbots are not misrepresented as therapy
  • Reinforce that mental health care cannot replace human clinicians
  • Support ethical innovation and workforce development

We are grateful to Susan for representing our chapter and advocating for both clinicians and the communities we serve. (See attachments for more information.)
