Descriptive Narrative:

The educational goals of of this presentation are to strengthen clinicians' clinical judgment, diagnostic precision, and ethical decision making when working with perinatal loss. The training is designed to improve clinicians' ability to accurately assess perinatal loss when it presents as depression, anxiety, trauma related symptoms, or relational distress, and to differentiate normative grief from mood and trauma related disorders. The presentation supports professional growth by enhancing ethical assessment practices, appropriate documentation, and treatment planning grounded in trauma  informed and culturally responsive care, thereby reducing the risk of misdiagnosis, minimization, and unintended harm in clinical practice.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Recognize at least four clinical presentations in which perinatal loss commonly manifests, including depressive symptoms, anxiety, trauma related responses, and relational distress.

2. Identify three assessment questions used to screen for perinatal loss, grief responses, and trauma related symptoms during intake or ongoing treatment.

3. Recall two key clinical principles used to differentiate nornmative perinatal grief from major depressive disorder and trauma related disorders.

4. Demonstrate three clinically appropriate responses to clients experiencing perinatal loss, including validating language, trauma informed pacing, and ethical intervention strategies with scope of practicde.
