Decoding Teens
Life. Is. Rough. Teens are great at being in the here-and-now. So much so that they tend not imagine life past This. Very. Moment. Being a teenage is like walking a tight rope between childhood and being an adult. They know everything, yet they know nothing. Being able to meet this particular client right where they are means that we are connecting to our own experience as teens, which for many of us was not a pleasant time. In this session we will explore strategies for how to connect with a teen client, engage them in the therapy process and provide understanding during a time when “no one understands.” Additionally, we will discuss insights that will help parents and teens feel more connected. With a type of stealth therapy, we will explore strategies to help the next generation through an identity-building transition.
