Emotional Transformation Therapy: The Blending of Art and Science

 Lolita M. Domingue, M.S., LMFT

ETT was developed by Steven R. Vazquez, Ph.D. over the course of over 20 years of research on the visual ecology of the client. ETT intervenes using light and color to reduce the length of time which traditional methods demand. The presenter will show how the interpersonal relationship between client and therapist is integrally intertwined with attachment theory and will discuss accurate attunement with adult attachment presentations to create an effective therapeutic alignment to set the stage for accurate attunement with ETT.

A discussion of the triadic relationship between client, light, and the therapist as co-therapist with the light can significantly reduce or eliminate distress associated with relational problems, poor self-esteem, trauma and its resulting symptoms, addiction issues, anxiety, depression, and more. This work adds a dimension of depth and emotional access for clients that could only have been dreamed of in the past.

The presenter will have a PowerPoint presentation which will:

  •  lay the foundation of Emotional Transformation Therapy
  • outline the history of the development of the methodology and interventions associated with the therapy
  • teach the tenets of the therapy and how this neural intervention provides regulation of  dysfunctional attachment styles using light and color
  • introduce the 4 ETT tools
  • provide case examples of the outcomes which can be expected
  • provide an experiential demonstration of the methods of ETT using one of the ETT tools

Participants will:

  • gain knowledge of the development of ETT and its tenets.
  • gain an understanding of the latest research in attachment theory and its implications for brain and relational functioning.
  • be able to define how ETT uses light and color and visual brain stimulation to reduce distress with effective brief therapy.
  • understand how one’s relationship with light affects attachment patterns and how a shift in one’s relationship to the light can result in improved emotion regulation.
